About the PSP Retirees Association (PSPRA)
THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE RETIREES ASSOCIATION (PSPRA)
The Pennsylvania State Police Retirees Association is a non-political and non-profit organization.
The PSPRA serves to remember where the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) has been since its inception in 1905 and continues to foster relationships between its members and with the active members of the Pennsylvania State Police.
“The Mission”
“The mission of this Association shall be to foster fellowship among the members, to keep alive the members’ memories of their service with the Pennsylvania State Police, and to promote the welfare of the members, now and into the future.”
VISION STATEMENT
The purpose of the PSPRA is to continue to uphold the honor, legacy, traditions and spirit of the Pennsylvania State Police by providing a method for social and fraternal interaction and communication among its members.
HISTORY
The Association was initially chartered as a non-profit corporation in June 1950, and known as the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania, Inc. It was a fraternal organization. In 2022, the Board of Directors requested the Association undergo a change in status from a 501(c)7 to a 501(c)3 organization in order to be able to accept contributions and to raise money for various causes. This process required a new organization be created and dissolvement of the old entity, thus the name change to the Pennsylvania State Police Retirees Association (PSPRA).
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Membership is open to Retired Pennsylvania State Police enlisted members who received an honorable discharge at retirement, under the provisions of the State Employees Retirement Act.
Retired civilian employees, Liquor Enforcement Officers, and those enlisted members not receiving retirement benefits, who received an honorable separation from the Pennsylvania State Police after two or more years of service are eligible to join the Association as an Associate Member. Associate Members cannot hold office, but otherwise have the same privileges as members.
